Now I don’t want you all thinking I am going to become some crazy animal activist, however I do love animals so hey, maybe I will.

Anyway, for the last decade or so there has been this huge debate of whether or not the seals in La Jolla, CA should be allowed to stay or ordered to be removed. I personally think the seals should be allowed to stay in San Diego.

For those of you unaware, there is a cove area in La Jolla, CA which the seals have pretty much taken over and called their own, and as usual… a few grumpy people couldn’t handle this and took the matter up with the city and state. la jolla seals

Sure I see their argument, the seals are filthy, they bark, they contaminate the water, but hello, they’re seals!? The ocean is their home. How many filthy people contaminate our earth yet were not eliminating them.  I mean if you’re really against contamination lets fight against cigarette smoke, pollution, something that is a real problem, not the dumb seals.

I love the seals, they are so cute and interesting to watch. It is also something people come from all over to see and something San Diego is known for! Why take it away?

So anyway, last July, a judge actually ordered the city of San Diego to remove the seals. They were going to shoo them away, literally, with a machine that barked like a dog. Then they were going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to fight them off for good. So ridiculous!

Fortunately, shortly after that decision, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill giving the City of San Diego the power to decide the best use of the cove. So now what? October 6, 2009 they will have another hearing to decide the fate of these seals.

What you can do: Write to your city council men and women urging them to create a marine mammal park for the seals at Casa Beach. It takes about 20 minutes of your time, but if you love animals like I do, it is worth the time. All you do is ask them to save and preserve the seals in La Jolla, and hope for the best :) You can also email them which is much faster and easier. Hope you can help!

YES! The first thing that actually caught my attention on this website. My idea is simple. Lets get some ex SEALs, and just set up a 24 hour watch on the beach and when any govenrment workers come to “shoo” them away, we just in our way “shoo” them away. Simple right? Oh and yes I’ll be wrting to each local Representative you have included, including my Congresswoman Susan Davis. She’s helped me out in a couple ways already, so we are tight! Now your getting me to go to this site more than just once a week…..Just seeing if you’re paying attention.

the whole fact that this has been an “issue” for so long really pisses me off. they’re SEALS, SEALS live in the ocean and on the beach. we have a whole f-ing coastline of beaches far more suitable for human use than this place. oh yeah not to mention there are SEALS living there that have full right to bite the shit out of any moronic person that thinks they have more right to be there than the seals do. you can also follow Seal Watch on twitter at http://twitter.com/LaJollaSeals or their own website here- http://savesandiegoseals.com/ then you can join them for rallies and events and help keep the seals where they have the right to be.
