Fab Curly hair

First things you need:

1. Fake hair. To really get the celebrity hair look you almost always need extensions. Even if you have long, full hair, your hair probably wont hold the curl. I have had clip in extensions and also sewn in ones. I recommend clip in’s because you can take them in and out, and there is NO damage to your hair and you can wear lots or just a few. I make my own because I like them different sizes but click the picture below to go to a local website here in Mission Valley that makes custom ones for you for under $100.00

2. Curling irons- I use a 1 inch as well as a 1 1/4 inch but both aren’t needed. If you want more wavy hair, use a smaller iron. Bigger curls, obviously use a bigger one. I use simple Conair available at any drug store.

3. A good root boost. I cant live without mine. Its so important for full, voluminous hair! I use Big & Sexy root boost, its the best.

4. A serum like bio silk, something oily, and a good hair spray. There are so many brands, pick your fave.

Ok now to begin:

1. Wash your hair, brush it out and add Root Boost

2. Blow dry entire head. I section it off with a clip and use a round brush so all your hair is super smooth. I use a fat round brush. Turn your curling iron on now so it can heat up.

3. Pay most attention to the top of your head when round brushing, the key is to give volume on the top of your head. You want to blow dry opposite of the way you wear your hair. If you part your hair to the left then blow dry to the right and then flip your hair back when you’re done.  Remember that the air flow needs to be coming “down” onto your head which means your arms should be above your head blow drying from the root down to the ends.

4. Now that you are all blow dried your hair should look like this

5. Begin curling. Use a small chomp clip to section off your hair, starting at the bottom. I think the problem most girls have when attempting to curl is the way they hold the iron and the amount of time they hold it on. Once you have your hair sectioned off you will take nothing bigger than 1inch pieces of your hair. The bottom should separate into 3 small sections.

DO NOT curl your hair forward. You always want the curling iron parallel to your head, so up and down. the top of the curling iron should be near the top of your head like this. In this pic she is curling the wrong direction but she is holding it in the right position. DO NOT curl this direction, instead you want to curl AWAY from your face. Think charlie’s angels curls but they wont turn out that way. You want to feather the curls away from your face so if you are working on the right side of your head, you will be curling clockwise. Make sense?

6. Continue taking sections and curling in this manner. When you reach the top of your head you can either continue curling or sometimes I will just blow dry under the top layer so its less spiraly.

7. Once you are done curling I always rat my hair to give it an extra boost. The trick here is not to use a thin ratting comb but instead the thicker ratting combs. I will take a pic of mine, I can’t find one on here. Soooo important to rat! I start at the top and grab a section and rat and then flip it forward and then one more under it…

8. Apply serum on the ends, careful, too much will make a greasy mess!

9. Finish off with a bit of hair spray! I never really hair spray until the very very end, otherwise it is nappy
