I get sooo many emails asking “What do I wear to Vegas” so I think it’s about time I dedicate an entireee post to Vegas attire. I think in Vegas you can wear things you may not normally wear in your hometown, but I still like to keep it classy, if anything just up the fancy.

The latest email I got was “What to Wear to a Vegas VIP Party.” If you are going to an actual event I would def. avoid anything super skanky. Here are a few good options to consider for your trip!

    1. Fun, flirty dresses.

I love dresses, mostly because once you pick one, & your outfit is done. Toss on some cute heels, some jewelry and bam you’re done. The key to Vegas dresses is, like everything else in life, all about balance. If you want to wear a short, tight dress, skip the cleavage… Want to wear a low cut dress? Maybe go for something a bit longer.

    Mirror & Shine Dress $159.00

     METALLIC WRAP DRESS $32.00

One-Shoulder Flower Lace Bodycon Dress $69.00

    2. Skirt & Blouse.

If you can’t find a dress you love, opt for a cute fitted skirt and top instead. Now that color blocking is super popular, choose two bright fun colors and mix it up! I always stick to high waisted, fitted skirts, they just look dressier and of course are the most flattering.

    3. Rompers.

Rompers are always a cute alternative to dresses or skirts, but make sure they fit you well. Rompers, and anything else for that matter, should only be worn if they flatter your shape. Baggy, loose rompers can be left at home. Bebe has so many cute ones out right now, I am loving both the pant rompers and short rompers. You can’t go wrong in a fitted romper.

A few other things I don’t leave home without when heading to Vegas? Rhinestoned accessories, 4-5 inch heels, lots of make up ;) , fake eyelashes, a cute clutch and lots of fun jewelry. Bebe is my favorite place to go accessory shopping as they have some of the best glam jewelry in town.

What items can you leave at home?

    * Cheap dresses that LOOK cheap, slinky material, fake satin materials, matching jewelry sets, tiaras, penis straws, wedges at night time, cotton dresses, saggy butt bikinis, shoes you can’t walk in, eyelashes you don’t know how to apply, orange highlights, stripper nails, hmmm think that’s it for now ;)

Hope these tips helped, happy packing!

I love “How To” emails, they solve the whole hmmm what should I write about today challenge I face daily. The email I chose to reply to today was from a high school girl looking to fancy up her plain high school uniform. This one is a bit tricky because 80% of your outfit is already decided and can’t be changed however, there are a few ways to bring this boring outfit to life!

Tips to Standing Out in a School Uniform:

    1. Hair: Get a fun haircut, style or color. Since all the girls at your school will be dressed just like you, a sure fire way to stand out would be to show up on the first day of school with some bold new fabulous hair.

Maybe some new bangs? Some layers? A new bold color?

I love bangles, heck… I love all accessories; chunky necklaces, fancy earrings, glamorous headbands… I’m never one to discriminate when it comes to accessorizing. I got a recent email however, specifically asking me how to wear bangles in a casual work environment. I suppose the best news is, this is soooo easy to pull off, you really can pair a nice stack-able bracelet set with any sort of outfit to give your 9-5 fashion a little pep!

    Keys to Wearing Stackable Bangles:

    • You want to tie in the colors/style/texture of the bangles somewhere else. Whether it’s a necklace, earrings, belt, ring, headband, hat, etc… choose one or two other accessories to link your bangles to. Three accessories MAX is my preferred amount.
Want some examples of how it’s done? DELACRUZ Of http://hauteandrebellious.com/ shows us how to per-fect the bangle, accessory trio look. I am love, lovin all of her looks, she really knows how to pull of the glamorous look!

Here she did it perfectly. Her gold, brown and black bangles link to her gold necklace and black and gold belt.

Here she pulls off another awesome accessory trio. Her bracelets, necklace and earrings all go fab together.

W2w2 Email: “Hello Amanda! First of all, I love your website! Second, I need some help! My husband just left for Air Force basic training and he graduates in March. I know it is still a few months away, but I need some ideas for a cute outfit to wear to his graduation. Since I wont be able to see him until then, I’d like to look sexy, but still remain classy as well. Also, it is in Texas so the weather should be pretty warm by then. Any advice would be great! Thank you!”

Reply: Ok, so when I think about a husband’s graduation, I immediately picture a Stepford wife sort of look. No, not a sweater around your neck/ poofy flowered dress sort of thing, but something cute, sexy and classy. The last thing you want is the other hater wives judging you for showing too much skin. You can still look sexy while remaining classy.

Rules: No cleavage. Nothing shorter than a few inches above the knee. Nothing too tight. Nothing too over the top. I also have been informed that you can not show your shoulders before your husband’s commanding officers. You will have to bring a cover up I guess!? You can take it off after the ceremony so I’ve been told.

Since it will be March, and as you say, HOT, I personally would go for a tank top dress, maybe with a modern floral/Spring print. Think pastels, browns, creams, tans, pinks, melons, yellows, sea foam greens…

Here are a few looks I would suggest.

Mirabell Gardens Grey and Pink Dress

    $41.00

This dress is super cute for a day time special event. Love the grey accessories. It’s a bit short but keep the heel a respectable height and you should be ok!

    Collective Concepts Hothouse Floral Top

    $47.00

I think these colors are super cute together. I also like the overall look. Innocent but stylish and shows enough skin to still be sexy. Love the bright lip as well. Read More | Comments

This weeks W2W2 question involves a little Law School graduation fashion. What a fabulous question to ask considering I used to work for an Attorney, and sexy business casual is one of my favorite styles to shop for. These looks can of course also work for office holiday parties or events where you need a perfect blend of smart, sexy and sweet ♥

Email: “I love your style and thought you might be able to help! I need some serious help picking out what to wear for my law school graduation.  I am having a huge party afterwards, and want something that is graduation AND party appropriate.  I love all things pink and girly and am not afraid to try new things, but being a student, I don’t have a huge budget. It is my night though, so I want something that steals the show.”

Perfect. Ok, so when I think of Law School graduations, I definitely picture a fitted, high waisted skirt or dress. A skirt or dress is a must because it says yeah I’m smart, but hey… don’t forget I’m still a fashionable girly girl as well. Plus you’re graduating and outta there so now’s your time to show everyone you can be sexy and smart. It’s kind of up to you how much you care to fit the environment. I personally would pick an outfit moderately conservative and then put more effort into flawless hair and make up.

Ok so, here are some looks I love. Pencil skirts, blouses, fitted dresses… I love Kim’s entire look here. The dress is perfect, white and festive for your holiday/grad party, but professional enough for the graduation. The thick suiting material keeps it from being too form fitting or clingy. The key here is getting nice materials. Suiting fabric is perfect since you want something that’s professional but still fitted and fun. Suiting is fitted but not too clingy.

I also love Khloe and Kim’s outfits here. You could always buy two tops if you wanted something a bit more fun for the party, or simply do a top like Khloe’s that can be worn to both. Kim’s top is a bit stuffy for a holiday party but hey I’d still wear it.

Awww this email was so cute, I wish she lived closer I’d totally spice her up for the night, Academy Award style.

What 2 Wear 2 Email: “My name is ToriAnn and I’m a freshman. My high schools homecoming dance is right around the corner (October 23). I have no idea what to wear to it. And none of my sisters have ever been to a Homecoming dance, the theme for the dance is Academy Awards. I have a boyfriend but he can’t come to the dance because he goes to a different school. I really need help to find a really outfit to wear. My spending limit is $150. I have to pay for everything myself, and I am on a budget.”

W2W2 reply: First of all, $150.00 is PLENTY! I’m guessing you could totally find an outfit for wayyyy under $100.00, you just have to be smart about it. Since you don’t have much time, me posting dresses online won’t help so instead I will post looks that I like and hope that you can re-create something similar. If I were you here is where I’d start:

    * Pick a cute dress that you feel good in and that looks nice. Choose your dress material carefully, NO cotton! Aim for something that is satin or a nice material. Any length is fine it’s 2010.

    * To spice the outfit up, pair the dress with GLAM jewelry. If it’s a tube top, find a fun, big necklace or some dangly earrings.

    * Perfect your hair and make up and go for a look that is different than your everyday hair and make up. Ask a friend to help with your hair, and for make up? Go to a local make up counter and have them help you. Call for an apt. Most will do it for free if you purchase something.

    * Smokey eye make up & BIG glossy lips. Fake eyelashes help create a dramatic eye as well.

    * Make sure you have a nice golden glow. Tan skin is a must for any event, in my opinion.

    * Perfectly polished nails & toes, again a must, always…

Here are a few pictures I found helpful for inspiration, all are young, flirty, fun looks! Notice all have big, fun necklaces, earrings, bracelets etc. I also like these messy up-do’s and make up ideas as well.

So now that we have a few looks we like, now how do we take a simple dress, and put a look together?

What to Wear To email: “My 21st birthday is coming up soon and I need help finding the perfect outfit! I’m the type of girl who has all the best dressed friends who look way cuter on a night out, even when you’re already thinking that you look your best. So as you may see I want to find the cutest outfit so I can stand out with my friends, to make sure I’m not get pushed to the side with my “blandness”. Any ideas?”

First of all no one has to be bland, blandness is a choice ;) Luckily I’m here to solve the blandness blues. Hmmm so how to stand out on your 21st birthday, without draping yourself in ugly boa’s and crowns? Here are my suggestions:

    1. Make up: Schedule a make up appointment if you can’t do your own. MAC counters will do your make up for free if you buy a few products. Go stock up on some dazzleglass‘ and have a MAC girl help you out with your make up! A good way to stand out through make up is a smokey eye or a bright lip look! Fake lashes are a b-day must as well!

    2. Hair: Freshly done hair. Make sure your roots are done and again if you need help styling your hair, contact a local salon to have them curl/do your hair for you. No up do’s please. Big, voluminous hair or a cute curly side pony tail is always cute too!

    3. Tan: Schedule yourself a spray tan! Everyone looks better tan and well since I barely tan in the sun, I use Million Dollar Tan. They offer sunless airbrush tanning throughout Southern California, email me for locations, or you can purchase their sunless tanning lotion for a similar tan! Any other spray tan will work if you don’t have MDT access. The key here is bronzed skin and no tan lines.

    4. Nails: Paint your nails a super cute color that stands out! Hot pink!? It’s Summer, have fun with a bright manicure/pedicure. Or play it safe with french.

    5. Outfit: I would go for a short, flirty, fun dress. Again something bright or with a pattern so you stand out, show some skin but nothing sloppy or skanky. It’s your birthday sure, but you don’t want to look desperate for attention. Get it the right way! Here are a few birthday dresses I found that I love!

I get so many emails asking me what to wear to certain events that I decided I’m going to start making a new section… W2W2… What to wear to: and then you can fill in the blank. Usually I reply personally to emails, but why not make posts about them for everyone to read?

Anyway, to email me a W2W2 question please email me: amandajo@helloamanda.com I’ll do my best to post something helpful.

    The first W2W2 email:

    Hi Amanda,

I love your website and your fashion sense, so I’m hoping you can help me!  On August 13th, I am going to the Lady Gaga concert here at the MGM in Las Vegas, where I live.  I am super excited but have no idea what to wear.  I am just a normal girl, I don’t want to wear anything too crazy, but it is Gaga!  Do you have any ideas?  I am desperate!  I am going with my boyfriend and he is going to wear a dark shirt, black blazer, and dark jeans if that helps. Thanks a million! :) :)

W2W2 response: Ok so after reading this email I instantly pictured a super tight high waisted leathery skirt and some killer spike heels or ankle booties. Or possibly a skin tight mini dress. Either way your only option is for something that shows some skin and that is tight. I personally wouldn’t take it too Gaga crazy but that’s just my style. It could be fun to really max out the Gaga style for her show. Here are a few key pieces that I think would make the perfect Gaga concert outfit, combine as you wish!

Dress options: Something tight, must be tightttttt. Something with pouffy costume-y shoulders or details, something mesh or see through, stripes, abstract designs, bright colors…

    Blush with Adventure Dress $68.00

Appeal to the Ref Dress $26.00

Dance Remix Dress in Black $38.00
