How cute is this manicure idea I found online on Lauren Conrad’s beauty blog! She always has the cutessst suggestions, so if you’re bored, and looking for a festive craft, why not try out some candy corn nails?! These are super easy to do at home, all you need is the following:

    * Orange, yellow, white, clear nail polish, and the ability to not bang your nails around for a few hours!

Ok now that we have all the supplies, here we go!

    1. Paint your nails with two coats of orange nail polish. Let these coats dry for a while, as you will be applying tape over this layer and don’t want to mess it up.  I would suggest allowing 3 hours to be sure, but to play it safe, try painting them the day before and rocking orange nails for a day.

    2. Cut masking tape into thin strips that are about 1/3 the width of the length of your nails.

    3. Place your tape strip horizontally across the center of each nail.  Press down on the tape securing it to your nail to guarantee clean edges between the colors.

    4. Paint the exposed nail below the tape with 2 coats of white nail polish.

    5. Paint the exposed nail above the tape with 2 coats of yellow nail polish.

    6. Wait 30 minutes before carefully peeling the strip of tape off each nail. Like I mentioned is step number 1, it is important that the orange coat is completely dry so that the polish doesn’t come off with the tape.  Finish with a clear top coat and you’re done!

Hope everyone has an awesome Halloween! The Chargers finally won so it should be a good night out here in San Diego :) I am staying in, last night at Hard Rock was enough for me, but everyone else… be safe and noooo drinking and driving!

Another night out… champagne & devil horns. Only difference was my horns were a bit more noticeable last night. The second night I was a kitty, lazy man’s costume, but my ears wouldn’t stay on my head so I’m just a goth I suppose.

Awww this email was so cute, I wish she lived closer I’d totally spice her up for the night, Academy Award style.

What 2 Wear 2 Email: “My name is ToriAnn and I’m a freshman. My high schools homecoming dance is right around the corner (October 23). I have no idea what to wear to it. And none of my sisters have ever been to a Homecoming dance, the theme for the dance is Academy Awards. I have a boyfriend but he can’t come to the dance because he goes to a different school. I really need help to find a really outfit to wear. My spending limit is $150. I have to pay for everything myself, and I am on a budget.”

W2W2 reply: First of all, $150.00 is PLENTY! I’m guessing you could totally find an outfit for wayyyy under $100.00, you just have to be smart about it. Since you don’t have much time, me posting dresses online won’t help so instead I will post looks that I like and hope that you can re-create something similar. If I were you here is where I’d start:

    * Pick a cute dress that you feel good in and that looks nice. Choose your dress material carefully, NO cotton! Aim for something that is satin or a nice material. Any length is fine it’s 2010.

    * To spice the outfit up, pair the dress with GLAM jewelry. If it’s a tube top, find a fun, big necklace or some dangly earrings.

    * Perfect your hair and make up and go for a look that is different than your everyday hair and make up. Ask a friend to help with your hair, and for make up? Go to a local make up counter and have them help you. Call for an apt. Most will do it for free if you purchase something.

    * Smokey eye make up & BIG glossy lips. Fake eyelashes help create a dramatic eye as well.

    * Make sure you have a nice golden glow. Tan skin is a must for any event, in my opinion.

    * Perfectly polished nails & toes, again a must, always…

Here are a few pictures I found helpful for inspiration, all are young, flirty, fun looks! Notice all have big, fun necklaces, earrings, bracelets etc. I also like these messy up-do’s and make up ideas as well.

So now that we have a few looks we like, now how do we take a simple dress, and put a look together?

I get so many emails asking me what to wear to certain events that I decided I’m going to start making a new section… W2W2… What to wear to: and then you can fill in the blank. Usually I reply personally to emails, but why not make posts about them for everyone to read?

Anyway, to email me a W2W2 question please email me: amandajo@helloamanda.com I’ll do my best to post something helpful.

    The first W2W2 email:

    Hi Amanda,

I love your website and your fashion sense, so I’m hoping you can help me!  On August 13th, I am going to the Lady Gaga concert here at the MGM in Las Vegas, where I live.  I am super excited but have no idea what to wear.  I am just a normal girl, I don’t want to wear anything too crazy, but it is Gaga!  Do you have any ideas?  I am desperate!  I am going with my boyfriend and he is going to wear a dark shirt, black blazer, and dark jeans if that helps. Thanks a million! :) :)

W2W2 response: Ok so after reading this email I instantly pictured a super tight high waisted leathery skirt and some killer spike heels or ankle booties. Or possibly a skin tight mini dress. Either way your only option is for something that shows some skin and that is tight. I personally wouldn’t take it too Gaga crazy but that’s just my style. It could be fun to really max out the Gaga style for her show. Here are a few key pieces that I think would make the perfect Gaga concert outfit, combine as you wish!

Dress options: Something tight, must be tightttttt. Something with pouffy costume-y shoulders or details, something mesh or see through, stripes, abstract designs, bright colors…

    Blush with Adventure Dress $68.00

Appeal to the Ref Dress $26.00

Dance Remix Dress in Black $38.00

Not only do I enjoy sporting Hello Kitty gear like I am 8, but I also enjoy making Hello Kitty cupcakes for my bffs birthdays like they’re 8 too. Actually, I usually buy them, but this time I wanted to make them myself. My roomie Megan had a birthday yesterday, so I did what every good 26 year old friend should do and baked her Hello Kitty cupcakes. This is a big deal, considering I normally refuse to partake in domestic activities but hey, I figured why not prove to the world I am capable of baking if absolutely necessary. Her favorite cake is red velvet so I purchased Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix with funfetti vanilla frosting. I topped the cupcakes with hot pink baby sprinkles and as a final touch added the cutest edible Hello Kitty cupcake toppers. They are flat so they were super easy to apply.

I took the actual cupcakes out of the wrappers once they were done, and placed them all on a giant pink plate. These pics don’t do them justice what-so-everrrr, they really were quite delicious, and did not look this messy in person, I hope? Maybe they did oh well. Anyway, a fun, easy idea for any Hello Kitty fan out there whether 8 or 28! She loved them so it was a job well done ;)

    Things I used:

    * Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake mix. Makes 24 cupcakes and available at most grocery stores.

    * Pillsbury Funfetti Vanilla frosting, available at most grocery stores.

    * Hot pink sprinkles, available at most grocery stores.

    * Hello Kitty edible cupcake toppers. Available at Party City or online here.

Making them was pretty easy. Bake the cupcakes and let them cool for about one hour… Too hard to frost them hot. Begin to frost the cupcakes after they’re cool. I used a left over Yogurtland spoon so the frosting was nice and smooth. I also let the frosting get a little bit hot, you can even microwave it for 10 seconds to ensure it’s smooth ;)

After frosting, I immediately covered the freshly frosted cupcakes entirely with hot pink sprinkles and plopped the giant kitty head in the middle. I only bought 1 pack so I only decorated 1/2 of them ;/ After all that I took the cupcake wrappers off to make them look like mini cakes! Also saves other people the hassle of the wrapper.

Cute, easy and delicious! Happy Birfday Megs xoxo

No, I’m not getting married this Summer, but I do know a handful of girlfriends that are! Over the past few months I have been searching online for some cute bridesmaid dresses for them and finally found a site with tons and tons of options I figured I would pass it along in case anyone else out there is in search of the perfect bridesmaid dress!

If and when I do ever decide to tie the knot, I think Spring and Summer weddings are the best, soooo many cute color schemes to choose from. From pigmented, bright colors to pretty pastels, there really is no color that looks bad when done correctly in a wedding. Key word correctly ;) Careful what colors you mix. I like to keep it clean & simple. Black, white and one other color just to be safe. However if you are confident in your mixing skills, there are tons of cute ways to combine colors!

For Springtime weddings, I loveeee pastels. Pinks, yellows, creams, blues, light greens…
