Here we go… little late but worth the wait… move it Monday Holiday edition ;) Everyone loves to make excuses on why they become total holiday fatties, but not this year! Christmas is one day, I’m not sure how on earth people manage to gain 20lbs over the holidays, but they do. This year lets try to control our cookie count and not do too much damage. If you do plan on eating a few hearty meals, promise me you will do a few good workouts before hand ;) I will try to keep my own promise as well.

Anyway, since you all think you’re sooo busy over the holidays to really stay in shape, the least you could do are a few at home, quick workouts. This week Tony Cress, a personal trainer, focuses on a simple but effective home workout to get your heart rate at least up goin a bit. You can modify it to your liking, something is better than nothing and push ups are an awesome way to get a quick workout in. I have been perfecting my push ups, I can do about 30 real ones now ;) How many can you do?

Check out this quick workout video that even features a few holiday diet tips & foods to avoid! For more of Tony’s featured fitness tips visit http://tonycress.com/

My friend Tony is a personal trainer and fitness expert based out of Las Vegas and always has fabulous quick tips for getting into shape so I decided to share a few with you each Monday to give you ideas on different areas of your body to target. I know I get lost sometimes at what to do next so if you nee a few extra tips, he is here to help! This week’s focus? Your butt.

For some reason mine is shrinking so I asked him to focus on that. These exercises can be done at home quickly to get something small in for the day, or done at the gym with weights for an intense butt workout… up to you. These are some great exercises to keep your butt nice and toned, and to give it a bit more shape.

If I ever needed a move it Monday motivation it would have to be NOW. My birthday is coming up and I need to be bikini bound for Las Vegas asap! I have been super over working out this week, I really am going to have to dig deeeeeep down inside of myself and yank out the workout freak that I know lies somewhere inside of me.

A lot of my friends have over the years became raw foodist’s, which is a lifestyle promoting the consumption of un-cooked, un-processed, and often organic foods as a large percentage of the diet. They also typically believe that the greater the percentage of raw food in the diet, the greater the health benefits. Not only do you get more nutrients from the food you are eating, you lose tons of weight! I personally could never become a total raw foodist but maybe if I just up my dose of raw fruits and veggies I will eat healthier and maybe be less puffy ;)

My goal this week is to eat cleaner, more veggies, fruits, nuts, eggs, salads, water etc… especially before bed! That combined with the gym 5 days a week I think I will be ok :) Let’s see how well I can stick with it!

So the majority of girls I talk to tell me when it comes to working out, they don’t like using weights because it “bulks them up”. Ladies this is one big fat myth. Here is why.

If you do weight training in a very specific way, you obviously can get super buff, however, weights can be used to tone up already existing muscle which ultimately helps you slim down. If you’re looking to pump up, you would lift heavier weights with fewer repetitions. If you’re wanting to tone, you will want to find a weight where you can comfortably lift it 12-15 times (reps) and do those 12-15 reps at 3 different times (sets), with a resting period of about 60 seconds in between.

Muscle makes up a large amount of mass in your body and when you work that large mass, it continues to work for you. This is why a lot of people choose to work out in the morning, as they can reap the benefits of a boosted metabolism throughout the rest of the day. You may burn more calories during a cardio workout, but lifting weights will increase your muscle mass and muscle mass burns more calories than other mass. Complicated but makes sense if you think about it. So today’s Move it Monday is Weight Lifting!

Guys pump it with heavier weights, less reps

Girls pump it with a good amount of weight and a few more reps

PS-I have been lifting more weights as of last week, and already can tell a huge difference! I was focusing TOO much on cardio and not enough on weights!

So have you guys heard that drinking warm water and lemon juice is good for you? I wanted to hear the truth behind this so off to google I went to see exactly what it is good for ;)

Here are some of the benefits of a warm water and lemon juice blend.

    - It promotes happy intestines if ya catch my drift ;) Cleans the pipes laksjdalsjdad

    - It’s a good source of vitamin C that helps rejuvenate the skin. Water enhances the skin’s beauty and drinking the lemon juice helps rejuvenate the skin from within.

    - It’s soothing to sip. It can help slow you down and take the edge off your hunger, simply by filling you.

Butttttt, one thing to keep in mind: Too much lemon juice may eat away at your tooth enamel so make sure it is diluted well.

So nothing overly fancy, but a good idea anyway to sip water throughout the day.

FYI: Your body really needs 8, 8oz. glasses of water per day so drink up!lemon
