I love, love reading other girls fashion blogs and every once and a while I come across ones I reaaaaaaaaallly love, like today… I found one while hunting for a Mexico City fashionista and now I’m obsessed!

This girl’s name is Marcella, she was actually born in San Diego also, but I think lives in NYC now where she studies graphic design, again I think? Her blog features fashion and art projects she works on, mostly illustrations she draws on the computer, in which she pairs up with pretty song lyrics or quotes to make such cute final pieces. I am not sure what program she uses, but I need to learn it!

2pac is an all time fave, so in honor of his birthday today, June 16th, I wanted to post some of my favorite Tupac quotes. It’s interesting to read them all knowing where he ended up, you get an extreme sense of the rough life he lived reading just a few. Straight gangsterrr.

Fun new site for you guys to check out each day… postsecret.com. I had heard of www.postsecret.com before from a few girlfriends, but never really knew what it was so I went to it tonight to check it out. PostSecret.com is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their personal secrets, anonymously on one side of a postcard, and the website posts them every Sunday for us to read. It really was crazy to read some of the secrets people keep, scary actually, to know people could keep in such deep stuff! The postcards really get you thinking about the things others see as problems, some you can relate to, other just leave you wondering what experiencing that would feel like… I loved reading them alllll, and wanted to share a few of my favorites.

All of the secrets are sent in on actual post cards, they look like these below!

Update on Life in Vegas!

Seriously life is crazyyyy right now, so sorry for the lack of posts! I think right now is hands down the hardest transition I have ever been through, correction, it is. I could lie and tell you all living in Las Vegas is a total blast but reality is it definitely has its ups and downs. So many people ask me why I ever moved out of San Diego to somewhere so crazy like Vegas and I really don’t have a reason other than I think everyone should push themselves outside their comfort zone at least once in this lifetime, and since I never have, this was my time! I was born and raised in San Diego and I was sick of seeing the same people at the same places, I wanted to get lost in a city and create a new life there. Now that I am lost in a new city, and well in over my head, all of me wants to move home because it’s terrifying, but I gotta keep going!

I never had any desire to really leave SD until recently, I mean why would I? San Diego has it all. My best friends, my family, I had a secure job, a cozy home, a Pomeranian I love more than anything, I must have been crazy to pack up all my crap and move to Sin City? This move could be one of the biggest mistakes ever, but I trust that I will grow immensely from this and I’ll always know that San Diego and all those amazing things I left behind are just a 5 hour drive away. Coming home when I am home sick really has helped this transition. I come home, see everything is still the same and can venture back off to Vegas knowing I’m not missing anything new.

I of course have been having a blast out here as well, soooo much to do! Saturday night I worked an event for a jewelry company called Ideal, a Canadian diamond company. 20 girls and I hit up TAO Nightclub and had so much fun.

I ran into my new boss, Jason Strauss, who had a table with Brittny Gastineau and E! News host Giuliana Rancic, so it was fun seeing them in real life! Brittny Gastineau was celebrating the launch of her new jewelry line, Tres Glam, at Lavo the following night, featuring a performance by Macy Gray. The best part of Vegas is there are always fun people around to meet and see!

There are always huge conventions in town, and this week a huge jewelry convention was in town. It was fun because one of my college sorority sisters was here working it for her company so we got to meet up and go out one night. We went to XS at Encore. Always a good time. The weather is sooo hot here right now, just being outside at XS was too much for me! Indoors only right now.

So I suppose as hard as it is living here, there is tons of good as well. I think the hardest part of this entire move is being without my friends and family. My friends and family truly are my everything and being in a city as wild as Vegas, it has been hard building similar friendships. Luckily for me, I quickly have made a handful of friends who are very supportive and helpful so it’s not too bad. I know with time I will continue making solid friendships especially since I start work Wednesday.

Every day in Vegas is a challenge but again I feel it is something I have to do. I am young, just landed an amazing job working for TAO group and really have the chance to take my creativity and social network up a thousand notches in Vegas. Anyway I think the point of this blog is that even though this is one of the hardest times eveeeer ever in my life, I think it’s good to push yourself. Leave your comfort or “safe” zone. Easier said than done that’s for sure but I’m trying. I could move home tomorrow but at least I’ll know I tried.

Either way good has to come of this, either I grow and create a better life for myself or worst case scenario, this taught me to appreciate how amazing the life I left behind in San Diego is!

Sooo lesson of the day? Try something new, something crazy, something that involves great risk, something that leaves you unsure and that isn’t safe. Use the resources you do have to make the best of it! Life needs to be shaken up sometimes. “Risk will make you lose your footing for a second, but not taking risks makes you lose PERIOD!”
