Fish, chicken, veggies, fruit, apples & peanut butter, whole grains, you know… the normal healthy eats… Kim also swears by protein shakes with vitamins added by www.bodyfactory.com.

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about cool dining places in San Diego to try out, and one they mentioned was this place called Nature’s Ambrosia in Point Loma. So, what is it?

Nature’s Ambrosia is an ALL fruit restaurant! That’s right, they ONLY serve fruit! What is also cool about this place?

They use no preservatives, they’re Gluten free, and use no Frozen Fruits, All Natural Ingredients.  Nature’s Ambrosia has smoothies, slushies, shakes, juices, fruit bowls, fruit tacos (fruit wrapped in a tortilla) and healthy dessert cups with your choices of strawberries, bananas, mangoes, pineapple, oranges, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, peanut butter, chocolate, coconut.  They also have milk, soy milk, ginger, protein (soy, rice and/or whey/wheat & egg) and toppings- almonds, raisins, peanuts, choc chips, coconut flakes and granola.

Yum! I loveeee places like this! Check it out!

My move it Monday tip is to start simple by just reminding people to be eating breakfast. Eating breakfast is DEFINITELY a huge factor in losing weight.

Skipping breakfast is a common strategy for losing weight, but not a smart one. Many people believe that they will lose weight if they skip meals, but that just isn’t true! The body expects to be refueled a few times each day, starting with breakfast. So, what is an ideal breakfast to get your metabolism up and running?

A recent study found that people who ate muesli, yogurt and fruit before an hour long workout burned 50% more fat than those who ate the same amount of calories in other foods such as toast, corn cereal, and milk.

    What is Muesli?

    Muesli

Muesli is a cereal made from toasted whole oats, nuts, fruit and typically wheat flakes. Since it uses whole grains, it is high in dietary fiber, and because it relies on the natural sweetness of the fructose in fruit, it is also low in sucrose. Depending upon the proportion of nuts, it can also be relatively high in protein, unlike most other breakfast cereal.

Most people mix it with yogurt instead of granola. It gives you energy and burns more calories! Muesli also falls lower on the glycemic index which means it is digested slower so your body has to pull energy from its fat stores.

Muesli can be purchased at any health store Trader Joe’s, Henry’s etc… Side Note: All cereals you eat should have at least 5 grams of fiber per serving.

You can also make your own, personalizing it :)

    • 4 1/2 cups rolled oats
    • 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
    • 1/2 cup wheat bran
    • 1/2 cup oat bran
    • 1 cup raisins (No raisins for me :P )
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (Remove to be extra healthy)
    • 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
