    I am obsessedddd with hair extensions, no really, can’t live without em. I have pretty nice hair without them, but there is just something awesome about long, full, flowwwwyyy hair. Just like a tan, extensions make everyone better! I have posted about extensions before, but I wanted to do a recap of the types of extensions, the PROs & CONs as well as the cost comparison. There are affordable, minimal damage options out there, take my word for it :) I also attached a readers email with specific questions at the end if you’re looking for even more info.

    Types of extensions:

    1. Clip in hair extensions:

    Clip in hair extensions are amazing if you want a temporary style change, they are extensions that are clipped into the hair to create a temporary hair effect, as you can easily create the length that you desire, as well as the volume with these types of hair extensions. You can either have a salon make them for you (Around $100.00) Or you can do what I do, buy the hair and make them yourself. You can buy hair from any beauty supply warehouse. There is a place in Mission Valley that makes them for you. For their site click here.

    Cost: Free to insert. $100.00 total to have someone make them for you. $60.00- $100.00 total cost of hair if you make on your own.

    PROS:

    * No damage

    * No cost to put them in

    * Instant style change, removable when you’re done wearing them.

    CONS:

    * You cant wear a high pony tail, clips will show

    * A bit uncomfy to sleep in them a bit, feels like you’re sleeping with bobby pins in your hair

    * Temporary

    * You can get them wet, swim, shower but they might fall out if you’re too rough.

    Everyone knows I loveeee the rain but unfortunately, with rain comes very bad hair days. I have found my hair to be a bit on the unruly side lately, and was in desperate need of an entire new hair care line. My old shampoo was also drying out my hair, fading my color, and not leaving my hair shiny enough. I have good hair even with bad products, so go ahead and call me greedy, but I wanted it better. I mentioned my problems to a few friends and word around the glamour girl town was that there is an amazinggg hair line out there called Moroccanoil, and that if I wanted super shiny, healthy hair, I had to try it out. I remember seeing this line in almost every magazine so off to Google I went to learn more, and here’s what I found out:

    Moroccanoil has quickly become one of the best-selling hair care lines in the world. It’s been featured on Kathy Lee & Hoda, and is one of InStyle Magazine’s 2010 Best Beauty Buys. From the mega-successful ORIGINAL Moroccan Oil Treatment to the Morroccanoil ShampooMoroccanoil Conditioner. This full line of products has girls, and the press going gaga. Moroccanoil products are designed to: • Restore elasticity • Infuse hair with shine and • Protect from environmental factors. Perfect just what I need. Adddddd to cart.

    Besides the magazines telling me about their products, my girlfriends also told me that their hair serum was by far the best serum around when it comes to smoothing out those unruly hairs. After trying the line, I can confirm that they are right! Moroccanoil hair products are magic! I combined the MOROCCANOIL® SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER & OIL and as a result have the shiniest, healthiest hair ever. The other day I was even stopped at a deli, a guy asked me if I was a Pantene Pro V hair model ahahah I said um no and quickly scurried off. Point is, these products are amazing :)

    Shine was NOT photo-shopped, 100% how it was pictured.

    I knowwww it’s only October, and Winter isn’t fully here yet, but here in San Diego it’s getting a bit chilly! I am sure other parts of the US wouldn’t consider this to be chilly weather however, us SD locals think it’s freezing. One sprinkle and I scream RAIN!!!! Anyway, with chilly weather comes cute new head accessories! I have Rachel to thank for the inspiration behind my new found favorite trend: head wraps. My little beanie headband kept me warm all day and was a great alternative to a full on beanie. It covers your ears but not your full head so it’s the perfect temp. I got a few emails asking where I got mine… mine was $7 bucks from Papaya the shitty store in Mission Valley mall, hey sometimes I find good stuff in there for cheap. (Not available on their website, bummer I know.) They also had a cream color and maybe a purple? I stuck with black to try it out first, maybe I’ll go back for more now that I know I like them. Here are some other cute ones I found for you.

    **Tip when wearing: Make sure it sits on your head right, you want to leave your eyebrows out and not too much forehead showing. Bangs are optional, up or down.

    Happy headband shopping.

    Gold Saturn Studded Turband in Black $59.00

    As seen on Kourtney Kardashian

    San Diego Bow Earwarmer $24.00

    Wintermallows Headwrap $24.00

    Plaited Headwrap $24.00

    Ehhh nice hair Drew, uh not. Drew stepped out at the premiere of her new movie, Going the Distance, with some seriously fugly hair. First of all the color is hideous, I am all for a bit of that two toning thing, but that is just wayyyy too much. And second of all, I see your shoulder length hair peeking through. Hair extension faillllllllll.

    Tip for girls that are going to wear extensions? Make sure the bottom layer of your real hair isn’t showing like this! Nothing is worse than screaming out “I’m wearing a weave”… way to fix this? Use a small rubber band (the kind they use for cornrows or small braids) and pull back the bottom short pieces of your hair into a mini ponytail. Problem solved.

    Well, she had them for the night at least… Kim Kardashian sported temporary bangs to her double premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Spin Crowd Thursday at Le Trousdale in West Hollywood. I actually loveeee her hair here, you know me, I love bangs! But, she assured reporters that they were only temporary, courtesy of clip-in fringe. Kim even gave fans a chance to comment on the look by posting pics on Twitter with an enthusiastic “Bangs!!!!!!”

    What do you guys think?

    I wasn’t too pleased to learn Ashlee Simpson went back to brunette a few months ago, eyeroll…. let the Ashlee Simpson look alike comments begin… But recently, Ashlee mixed things up and decided to rock two toned hair. At first I hatedddd it but after a few double takes, oooh, I kind of think I like it? It doesn’t fit my personality or style really, however I have an alter ego that loves the rocker chick look, so maybe I’ll bring this look to life and trick the world into thinking I’m Ash. Thoughts?

    (… 1 hour later I re-looked at this post and now I think her hair is kinda ugly, maybe a bit too racoonish?)

    I have always lovedddd bob hair cuts, and while peaking around at some Olsen twin pics (to take a Kim K. breather…) I came across the cutest pics of Mary Kate and Ashley’s blonde bobs. Such a cute Summer hair cut and it looks great curly, wavy and straight.

    The mid-length bob has become a Hollywood favorite for many celebrities. To achieve this look, have your stylist cut your hair to the shoulders, angling the layers (with the shortest layers in back). Then, have her cut a bang that hits a little below the brow line. Finish off by applying a smoothing balm and using a flat iron to make the bob straight as a pin, or use a curling iron for the wavy/curly look!

    Ahh why is Jessica Biel sooo cute?! She’s always been one of my favorite celebszzz, and after seeing her at this years MTV Awards I can confirm that yep, she’s still got it. Totally not the “normal” look I go for (Natural/girl next door, blah, gassspppp  ;)) However, I love love her look here. More so her hair and make up vs. her a bit off outfit but yeahhh, seeing Jessica’s perfect hair made me kinda want to make my mom happy and lighten my hair up for a more innocent look? Eh, yeah, probably not, sorry Mom. Anyway… Forget the color, what is great about Jessica’s hair here is how voluminous yet healthy it is! Why do my curls always look so nappy? Want the inside scoop on how to get your hair so flow-tastic?

    Well, Jessica’s hairstylist Mark Townsend explains exactly how he did her hur… you’ll be surprised how easy and cheap, yea cheap it was done! Check it out…

    “For the MTV Movie Awards I wanted Jessica’s hair to be cool, modern, and beautiful, just like her. We were very inspired by Brigitte Bardot with her loose, full hair and sexy vibe so we added a spritz of Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist to protect her hair from heat styling, then we used bit of Dove Body & Lift  Volumizing Mousse to her damp hair. I absolutely love this mousse because it gives the hair body that I know will last all through the evening and I don’t have to worry about her hair falling flat before the awards show is over.

    I then blow dried her hair with a large round brush to give the hair some lift and movement, When all her hair was dry, I sprayed a good amount of Dove Flexible Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement all over to give the hair hold, but still allow movement without becoming too stiff or sticky.”

    Sounds simple enough and the best part is that everything can be purchased at your local supermarket!
