Like I said, we started off in San Francisco. San Fran was amazingggg minus the freezing cold, windy weather. Think New York in the Winter. Well, not that cold, but pretty cold! Most definitely Winter coat cold. We stayed at the Mandarin Hotel, on the 45th floor, what an amazing hotel and view.

Next time you find yourself in San Fran with a couple hundred bucks to blow on a hotel, Mandarin is worth it. Check out the view from our room!

We went for a nice run along the Embarcadero one morning, but then spent the rest of the time in San Fran searching for Mexican food. Pretty hard to find in this town. **Tip when traveling to San Fran? Monday’s are DEAD past 10pm, and most restaurants close early. The only late night spot we found near the hotel? A place called Oola. It was actually pretty delicious, and open til midnight. I had a nice cheese plate and a fancy grilled cheese. Oink.

The next day we were determined to find Mexican food, so my sorority pal Meghan suggested Mamacitas. YUM! Definitely a great restaurant to have dinner at, one of the few places in San Fran that was suitable for dinner parties. We wanted a nice sit down place versus the typical San Fran hole in the wall joints. Mamacitas was perfect. Nice decor and delicious guacamole.

I had the cheese enchiladas which were amazing, endless chips and guac, and 2 skinny margaritas. The irony Their guac is just how I like it, nice and smooth versus big and chunky. No large chunks just whipped avocado and spices. So yum. It’s a good place to hit up for a dinner party, happy hour or just a simple date night. To read the yelp reviews click here.

We kissed San Fran bye, attempted to find the 101 North and ended up on 101 South for 30 minutes trying to turn around, and finally headed North… Oregon bound.

Rainbow tunnel!

We drove up the coast and passed through all the Redwood forests. Suchhhh a pretty drive. Every inch was perfect. From the beaches covered in plush Redwood trees, to the fog creeping through them, everything was picture perfect. So different than the pretty things I am used to seeing, it was a nice change of scenery.

We went up through Eureka and Humbolt, learned quick that all the crappy motels sell out fast, and ended up in an Indian Casino that was actually pretty nice. We had a great view of a farm and someones horse We continued on through CA and finally reached Oregon. Passed through Gold Beach which was a small beach community… Think Del Mar minus 500,000 people and businesses. Tons and tons of beach but no one really on them, a few people here in there. Most of the Oregon beaches were deserted. I suppose it’s because so much of the coast is in the middle of no where. The beaches are covered in old, worn down tree trunks and huge boulders. Pretty though.

We finally arrived to our destination, Coos Bay, OR. We again stayed in an Indian Casino because all the smaller hotels were booked. What is up with small crappy hotels like Best Western selling out in small towns like Coos Bay and Eureka? So odd… anyway our room here was soooo amazing and so affordable for all that it came with. A huge suite with a big bath that overlooked the river. We played with some horses, had a nice BBQ with friends and continued North, Portland bound this time!

We finally arrived to the last stop on our 101 coastal road trip and I’m not gonna lie, I was glad. Tooooo much car for the past few days, I needed to just relax. We stayed at a cozy little place on Lake Oswego, such a pretty town. So many active families with boats, it reminded me of growing up and my Summers on Greenville Lake in Michigan. Dock diving, wake boarding, those big tube thingies, so much fun! We even paddle boarded. I was a first time champ of course

Anyway, I’m back at the Portland airport waiting to head home now. There are 6 screaming babies around me, my plane can’t get here soon enough… overall an amazing road trip, I suggest everyone go on one! Even if it’s small. Drive somewhere you’ve never been, or drive somewhere far and stay with a friend. Super fun to see new places and cities! Til next time…

Ok soooooo…… I lasted in Las Vegas like 2 minutes but whatever, I couldn’t handle it, I had to move home to San Diego! Yep I’m back. My entire life I’ve been dying to try living there so I did and learned fast that is not where I belong. Never know if you never try though right? So hey at least I tried. Vegas for me is best left to visit.

So what went wrong? Well a number of things. First of all I had an awesome job, but realistically to benefit from it fully I would have to stick it out in Vegas for years. Network, create relationships, work my way up, establish clientele, etc. I never ever planned on staying in Vegas for more than a Summer, so I figured it was pointless investing time in a goal I didn’t even want to fulfill.

As awesome as working for TAO was, the hours were late. Some nights I wouldn’t get home until 6am. The sun would be rising as I would drive home. Anyone who knows me knows I am a total grandma who doesn’t do drugs, so not being in bed by midnight, and staying up til 6am was rough/impossible. Then add smokey casinos and clubs into the equation, no thanks. Still coughing by the way…

Then there’s the whole Vegas never sleeps thing. I am all for going out and having fun, but in Vegas… it never stops, I couldn’t keep up. My job meant social outings, and networking tons which then meant men whom I’d normally never everrrr blink twice at got the privilege of obtaining my phone number and abusing it all hours of the day. I would get the nastiest text messages I’ve ever gotten in my life. I still can’t believe guys would just text a total stranger they met while she is working to meet up and crush it. I honestly had no idea what that even meant until I was informed later on. I guess it did not mean to come meet up and have a fun crazy night?

Another huge problem was not being able to workout outside. Its 111 degrees, literally. No more street runs. Great. Even if the weather was suitable for a quick run, the neighborhood most certainly was not. I tried running outside once and after passing 3 bums, a drug deal, 2 trannies/hookers, pigeons, cigarette butts, and tweekers, I promised myself that was my first and last Vegas run. Then I was eating like a pig, feasts each meal (my fault, not Vegas’) but it overall was just an unhealthy living environment. No street runs + endless Wynn buffets = BAD news.

On to the people…. The people were just yuck, only looking to use you for their own benefits. Could I have met more normal people over time? Sure. But I didn’t. My one and only girl friend turned out to be a total psycho, stopped being my friend over a spray tan. I think that was the final straw. Everyone was nuts, I just wanted to go back home to my nice, healthy, green grass life in San Diego.

I did make a handful of guy friends who were super nice and helpful but you can’t live in Vegas with only guy friends, I need close girl friends to survive, just how I am. Anyway, I am back home living with two of my best friends, steps from the beach and couldn’t be happier! I still do tons of stuff in Vegas so I can still help everyone out with anything Vegas related. I know everyone out there industry wise so my trip wasn’t pointless. Overall it was definitely an experience I do not regret, I had a blast but realize my heart is happier here in San Diego. I laid out all day in the perfect 80 degree weather and now am laying on my floor as the ocean breeze blows through my balcony door… couldn’t be happier.

I do get emails all the time though asking for advice while living in Vegas so I did want to touch base on a few basic questions regarding jobs, rent, and life in general out there….

* RENT- Dirt cheap. You can find a house or room for rent for under 400 bucks easily, and in NICE places! I was staying in a high rise condo fully loaded with a concierge, roof top pool, roof top track, hot tub, gym, office, etc etc… Rent there ran about $1,200 bucks. In San Diego that condo would have been at least double that.

* JOBS- Hard to get. You have to either know someone, have a fat ass resume, or be ready to wh*re it up for a job. I actually scored my job just by being fab. I saw a craigslist posting for a cocktailing position, applied, set up a meeting with TAO and was offered a better position because of my website and strong social network. So be prepared to wait a while for a good job.

* DAILY LIFE- Daily life in Vegas was pretty weird. I mean they have all the same stuff you use wherever you’re from but its just different. The society in general in Vegas is just dirty. One trip to CVS and you casually encounter a minimum of at least 2 bums per trip. All begging for money. Plus its 111 out so you’re now running errands in miserable heat. If you live anywhere near the strip you sit in strip traffic daily and freeway traffic can be unruly between 3pm and 7pm.

Everyday I would try and do normal things but it was hard. Just not as nice as San Diego. Vegas does have everything you need to maintain a normal life off the strip tho.

* FRIENDS- Like I said, hard to meet good people, but possible. You have to put yourself out there. Be social, find friends off facebook who live out there and seem normal, go out a lot… Takes a while to create a good posse but  def do-able. Vegas is a town people move to in hopes to hustle $$. Most people you meet are only there for that reason and have no interest in really being loyal, honest friends.

Anyone who knows about TAO, knows it’s reliable fun. Every time I go there I see tons of celebs and loveeee dancing in their hip hop room until I drip sweat ahha. Some of today’s biggest celebrities only host their events at TAO, especially my favorites, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton etc Can’t wait to share some crazy stories and pictures with you guys from now on about all the fun events TAO is having.

Did you also know that TAO is the number one grossing restaurant in the US (Yes the food is thattt good and yes it really is #1!) You gotta try it if you haven’t yet. I love their Chilean sea bass skewers, veggie spring rolls, and.. and… and, yum everythingggg. Not to mention the restaurant itself has the some of the coolest decors in Vegas.

I never had any desire to really leave SD until recently, I mean why would I? San Diego has it all. My best friends, my family, I had a secure job, a cozy home, a Pomeranian I love more than anything, I must have been crazy to pack up all my crap and move to Sin City? This move could be one of the biggest mistakes ever, but I trust that I will grow immensely from this and I’ll always know that San Diego and all those amazing things I left behind are just a 5 hour drive away. Coming home when I am home sick really has helped this transition. I come home, see everything is still the same and can venture back off to Vegas knowing I’m not missing anything new.

I of course have been having a blast out here as well, soooo much to do! Saturday night I worked an event for a jewelry company called Ideal, a Canadian diamond company. 20 girls and I hit up TAO Nightclub and had so much fun.

I ran into my new boss, Jason Strauss, who had a table with Brittny Gastineau and E! News host Giuliana Rancic, so it was fun seeing them in real life! Brittny Gastineau was celebrating the launch of her new jewelry line, Tres Glam,  at Lavo the following night, featuring a performance by Macy Gray. The best part of Vegas is there are always fun people around to meet and see!

There are always huge conventions in town, and this week a huge jewelry convention was in town. It was fun because one of my college sorority sisters was here working it for her company so we got to meet up and go out one night. We went to XS at Encore. Always a good time. The weather is sooo hot here right now, just being outside at XS was too much for me! Indoors only right now.

So I suppose as hard as it is living here, there is tons of good as well. I think the hardest part of this entire move is being without my friends and family. My friends and family truly are my everything and being in a city as wild as Vegas, it has been hard building similar friendships. Luckily for me, I quickly have made a handful of friends who are very supportive and helpful so it’s not too bad. I know with time I will continue making solid friendships especially since I start work Wednesday.

Every day in Vegas is a challenge but again I feel it is something I have to do. I am young, just landed an amazing job working for TAO group and really have the chance to take my creativity and social network up a thousand notches in Vegas. Anyway I think the point of this blog is that even though this is one of the hardest times eveeeer ever in my life, I think it’s good to push yourself. Leave your comfort or “safe” zone. Easier said than done that’s for sure but I’m trying. I could move home tomorrow but at least I’ll know I tried.

Either way good has to come of this, either I grow and create a better life for myself or worst case scenario, this taught me to appreciate how amazing the life I left behind in San Diego is!

Sooo lesson of the day? Try something new, something crazy, something that involves great risk, something that leaves you unsure and that isn’t safe. Use the resources you do have to make the best of it! Life needs to be shaken up sometimes. “Risk will make you lose your footing for a second, but not taking risks makes you lose PERIOD!”

Anyway, so we hit up TAO Beach because even though it’s been around a bit, it’s reliable fun Today, like I said, was Cheryl Burke, from Dancing with the Star’s, birthday so TAO Beach was packed.

LasVegasPoolScene.com had a day bed table so it was nice to just layout and sip a cocktail. Long over due. A few randy’s, Freddy, Shawn, Joe & I.

Everyyyy time I go to TAO Beach though I see this weirdo old man who dances around for attention. Has anyone besides Cassie & Kristen seen this guy!? He has a buddy he dances with who’s his age too, totally shaved bald head except for a grey squirrel tail he left in the back. Who are they and who lets them in? Ha haha

Looks like his Khakis are about to split.

Anyway, just wanted to do a quick update, been super busy settling in, moving yet again, and in the process of a training for a new job. I can’t wait to tell you all about it, it really is such a fun new time in my life! Moving to Vegas was hard but I wanted to try something new. I was so sad at first because I was home sick, but things really are, finallllly, coming together. I really recommend branching out and trying crazy new things, you only live once and the growth process and experience really is priceless

After moving all day Saturday, Arika and I decided to head out and meet up with some friends! The great thing about living in Las Vegas, is that you always have someone in town visiting. On Saturday night we hit up Vanity nightclub at The Hard Rock Hotel with Shiela & Angie.

It was eh ok, super busy due to the fight being in town. We stayed at Vanity a bit and peaced out to eat Sonic. Why is eating always more fun?

Since Saturday night wasn’t all that fun, we were excited for Sunday to roll around. I’ve been craving a fun Vegas pool party for the past few weeks, so I couldn’t wait to just go layout and sip on a cocktail.

We headed over to Wet Republic over at the MGM Hotel where Carmen Electra was celebrating her birthday. We wandered around and ended up running into a few people we knew! I even ran into an old sorority sister, heyyy Rosie!

We then ventured off to find Shiela and Angie. I spotted Shiela kickin it in VIP so we headed up there. I realized she was at Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman’s table though, hmm I wonder if they read my article and are mad at me? Nahhh, I’m not important enough, they’d never worry about little old me rightttt? I’ve known those guys ever since their rookie days in San Diego and they’ve always been cool to me, so I didn’t expect them to be jerks. Boy was I wrong.

After about 5 minutes of being in their area Shaun stopped what he was doing and walked over to the waitress and had her tell me to leave. At first I didn’t get it? Me? Ha ha there must be a mistake… but nope sure enough the waitress said he specifically asked me to leave. Hahahah. Wow. I didn’t know I was that important and that my article pissed him off that much that he stopped what he was doing to have me removed.

That’s exactly why those guys are lame and exactly why I wrote that article to begin with. Total cry babies with out of control egos. ANYONE with passion for the sport or the Chargers would have read my article and 100% agreed. Anywayyy…

I’m so excited to be in Vegas and will keep you updated on all the fun adventures I find over the Summer. We stayed at a hotel called The Sanctuary, and if you were ever a Britney Spears stalker like I once was, this hotel would ring a bell, as this is one of Britney’s favorite stops in Arizona. Back in 2006 when she had her meltdown, Britney came here to hideout for a while to just relax. The Sanctuary Hotel seems to be quite the celebrity hideaway, other A-listers recently spotted were Jennifer Aniston as well as Vince Vaughn.

As for the hotel itself, its amazingggg. What is unique about the place is that each hotel room is it’s own mini townhouse sorta deal. Each “room” or mini house as I would like to call it, has it’s own easily identifiable cool name too. Think of it as it’s address I suppose. We stayed in Pearl

The rooms have a layout similar to a house… A living room with a cozy fireplace and mini kitchenette area (Fully stocked with Goose & Veuve), a big master bedroom, a hugeeeee bathroom (tons of getting ready space/room to make a mess), and the best part, an outdoor patio fully equip with an outdoor TUB! Was so fun to take a bath before bed under the stars. They also leave out bath salts and candles, ahhh it was great.

One of the days we decided to hit up the Sanctuary’s pool. Loved the pool. The pool itself is a giant infinity pool, surrounded by palm trees. They have about 50 pool chairs, with cute little white and green striped towels folded, waiting patiently to be used. They greet you with ice water and drink menus, let the fun begin!

Since it was pretty hot out, we decided to be diva’s and get a cabana. It was only $100 bucks for the day, why not right? That included a fresh fruit plate, 4 drinks, 2 big fiji waters and of course your very own cute little cabana with two couch lounge chairs. We hide out sipping strawberry pina coladas the entire day

Overall an awesome hotel. They have pretty much anything you could want or need but then again it was pretty pricey sooo I suppose the hotel needed to be as cool as it was… Lap pools, tennis courts, spas, restaurants… you name it they have it. My only ONE criticism was their room service. The girl on the phone was scary and mean and the food sucked. I got honey oat cereal and pineapple like 8 times because it was the only reliable thing. Oh and I think the rooms could be haunted because I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like someone was watching meeee, it was creepy. I also felt a shove in my sleep and lets just say, there was no one around me awake. It creeped me out the entire nighttttt :/

I decided I need to kick my fitness up a notch, and what better way to mix it up than to go for a nice hike?! While visiting Phoenix, AZ last weekend my friends and I decided to do just that by hiking to the top of Camelback mountain. I figured eh, a 2 mile hike? Nice and easy… or so I thought. Things started off smooth, here I am barely sweating…

But shortly after this pic, things got a bit crazy. This was notttt just hiking, more so rock climbing. Sure you hike most of the way, but what everyone forgot to mention was that you’re hiking straight up actual rocks. And not just small rocks, HUGE rocks. At some points the mountain is sooo steep they had to install poles to help you up.

Ok, maybe I am exaggerating, the hike wasn’t too bad, maybe it was just not what I pictured? But the fact that people get stuck up at the top once a week is kind of scary. I guess people are just scared to go back down because going up is so intense. While we were up there, we saw the police helicopter fly by, checking for people who needed help. It definitely isn’t a hike for beginners so make sure you’re ready for the climb.

The hike itself is only 2.2 miles, 1.1 up and 1.1 down, however it leaves you tired with a good workout put in, and the view is of course amazing. You can see all of downtown Phoenix, as well as a pretty sunset if you time it right. Plus, it’s great for your butt since you are pretty much lunging up the entire way

So, next time you’re randomly in the Phoenix, Arizona area, check out Camelback mountain! Camelback Mountain offers four different trails with varying degrees of difficulty from easy to strenuous, you can bite off as much as you choose. We did Echo which was considered “Strenuous”, but like I said it was a good workout, but not too bad. I made it to the top in once piece, that’s all that matters

Wow what a crazy day I had Wednesday… as wild as the day may have been, it was totally worth all the stops, because as you probably already knowwww, my final destination was to LA to attend the Vata Muscle Flex release party at Whisper Lounge inside The Grove. The best part of the night of course was that Kim Kardashian was hosting the event, which meant I got to meet Kim! I was so lucky to be invited by Bravada, the company having the party, I have featured them on www.helloamanda.com before, and got to know their staff and what do you know, I was invited to their awesome event to meet Kim. They’re all such great people, they knew I loved Kim and made sure I was there! It’s rare to come across such thoughtful people, especially in LA, but they were  all so nice, thank you Danny & Amy from Bravada for the invite, you’re the best!

Anyway, since I had been traveling all day, I needed a second to refresh my tired face and outfit, however I was in a hurry I lugged all my crap, 5 bags and all, into Nordstrom inside The Grove in attempt to freshen up. It turned out to be a total mess, 8,232 people everywhere watching me drag my wheel-less suitcase through the store, so I pretty much looked in the mirror and said you’re a mess, you might as well not bother. I decided it was more work than it was worth to fix my face, so I changed my shirt and went to the party ha ha. I wish I had time to get super cute, but oh well, maybe next time.

Amy from Vata, her boyfriend, and I all walk over to The Whisper Lounge and already see a crowd gathering to catch a glimpse of Kim. Since Amy works for Bravada she was a huge part of this event, therefore we were whisked inside fast, given VIP wristbands, a dinner table about 5 feet away from Kim’s, and greeted with pomegranate martins and Famous Cupcakes, are you kidding? Best day ever!

What was also cool about this event is that Kim’s PR team TLK Fusion was also part of the event, they ran the red carpet. If you watched that new show on E! SPINdustry you know who I am talking about. Was fun seeing them in action. Everything ran perfect!The set up was awesomeeee. They had an open bar and tons of little snacks throughout the lounge. They even had super nice gift bags that featured a piece of Vata workout clothing ( I got a super cute new spots bra, I will post pics later a cologne or something by 50 cent, some skin care items, and other fun goodies…
I think I spent most the night eating mini Famous Cupcakes and snapping pictures. Now what you’ve been waiting for, gossip about Kim! Kim, Bruce & Kris all arrived to the party and walked the red carpet.

The red carpet is crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The paparazzi’s are definitely the strangest people ever. They scream and yell and invade these people, it’s obvious to me now why celebs kinda grow to dislike the general public. Kim listened to all the paparazzi’s yells, “Kim over here” “KIM!!! To your left!!!!” She snapped her pics, did an interview for E! News, and headed straight inside to her table.

Kim plopped down with a few friends and her agents and just texted. Her overall attitude came off like “I’m at work, I don’t want to be here but… eh I”ll smile because I have to.” Don’t get me wrong, Kim was super nice to me when I went up for the meet and greet, but you can tell she’s exhausted with these events. Nothing against her, it’s only normal to feel worn out eventually, but my only confusion is that this is what she wants. She wants to be rich and famous, so she could have been a bit more excited about being out and about in my opinion. Maybe she’s bummed because of the Reggie split, who knows. At the event, she did finally confirm that she was in fact single and ready to dedicate herself even more to work, so who knows what is really going on with Kim.

Meeting Kim was crazy tho, she’s very different than from when I first started liking her. She is superrrr skinny in person with crazy proportions, to the point where it seemed fake, lipo for sure to keep her super lean everywhere but her butt. Her entire face looked plastic like a doll. Even her hairline seemed airbrushed on or lasered straight or something weird, eek. I liked the old Kim, the Kim that was a bit curvy and liked it, she was just naturally pretty. She for sure had her nose done and denies that, so who knows what else she’s had done but her face doesn’t even look the same anymore.

I think Kim’s style is awesome and I definitely will still follow her trends and fashions, however her personality and quest for total external perfection was a bit disappointing. Overall though, it was one of the most fun nights of my life, I got to run around with Amy, eating cupcakes and sipping martinis, and stalking Kim K. what more could I want

Just for fun, lets recap my last 24 hours… I worked all day yesterday in San Diego 9-5. Left my car at the Solana Beach train station, hopped on a plane to Vegas, took off at 9:30pm, landed at 11. Got to the condo at hmm around 11:30, passed out. Woke up today in Vegas, went to a bikini interview in which I almost passed out attending, not because there were 70 other girls in the room staring at my thighs, or a panel of 10 judges staring at them as well, but because I didn’t drink any water the entire day in hopes to be less puffy for my bikini party so I felt sick. So much for that, all not drinking water did was dehydrate me and make me dizzy .

Anyway…. after that grueling interview, I scarfed down a sandwich, breathed a few breaths, hopped back in a cab, this time heading back to the Vegas airport and now off to LA to attend the Kim Kardashian Bravada launch party.

The party is from 6-9 and thennnn after that, I hop on the train and head home to San Diego to make it to work Thursday at 9am. Yes, all in one day. So far so good. It’s 4pm and I haven’t crashed yet, although I do feel motion sick on the plane. Haven’t stopped moving since last night.

I wish I had more time in between all of this, because I got ready today at about  hmmm 11am, and somehow have to make the cuteness last until tonight’s event? Great, first time meeting Kim Kardashian and I’m ugly. Not to mention my entire hairspray can emptied in my suitcase, oh yeah the same suitcase that weighed 50.5 pounds, causing one wheel to fall off at the airport aksljdklasjdljksad so yeah it’s been one of those days.

I’m finally on the plane and happy I made it. My neighbor loves me, especially after I cleaned out my purse and put the trash on the seat between us, oh and then spilt my entire water bottle on the trash pile… Oh and did I mention, our plane was 20 minutes late so I decided to hit up the recharge zone for my laptop and cellphone, I peaked over and didn’t see much movement in C12, so I decided to make a final stop in the bathroom to detangle my hair. I thought to myself hmm, why isn’t anyone saying our flight is leaving soon? I mosey on over to the waiting area and the one person left says are you Amanda Jo? Shoot. I knew instantly that everyone was on the plane waiting for me hahahaah sorry if you were on my plane
