I think this post will cause a major debate amongst fashionistas all over… buttttt I don’t care. Yep, the debate over whether or not black and brown should be worn together in an outfit??? I personally refuse to wear brown and black together, never have and hopefully never will. For me, wearing this nasty combo would be like wearing navy and purple together, white and cream together, pink and purple together. It just doesn’t make sense. Why put two similar colors together? Lately, I have noticed more and more celebrities rockin’ this look and I don’t know why? Maybe the same reason we all rocked gaucho pants at one time? ICK. Shriek! Pass.

Brown + Black is one fashion trend I am refusing to participate in. Stay strong girls. There are way cuter combos out there than brown and black. Black and grey, black and white, black and ANY color but brown/tan.

When I see looks like Whitney Port’s at Fashion Week, I just think it looks messy and not put together. I am all for random looks but the red, the brown, the black, the tan? For me it just doesn’t flow. It is one thing to have a pattern with browns, tans and blacks and then to wear a black heel, but these solid pieces all together? No thanks.

So what do you guys think? Love or hate the brown and black combo?

Don’t like it either… I can’t think of ever seeing brown and black together look good (as in separates). Not counting like dark leopard or other pattern/designs which work them both in a dress or something, which might be OK… as long as the person wearing it goes with either black *or* brown for the rest of their outfit

as a guy, there are a number of black/brown combinations that i wear. (although, id never wear black shoes/brown belt or vise versa)… but i dont know how i feel about it on girls. ive yet to see a combination that works well.

i wear my brown flops no matter what’s going on up top. but i think guys coordinating their Reefs is a much bigger no-no

For a long time I couldn’t wear black/brown together, but I’ve finally gotten over being too matchy matchy and I like it now. As for Whitney’s outfit, the color of that dress is oatmeal gross.

amanda ahhahahlkasjdfklds you kill me the only people who think brown and black STILL don’t go together are middle schoolers. I remember back in the day when I thought it didn’t “match” but black and brown looks great together…plus the pictures you chose are kind of two opposite sides of the black brown whitney is too put together and wearing an ugly dress and the bottom one looks too haggard…i am a proud brown and black wearer and i know i look cute =)

I agree to some extent, “black and brown, no good!” All black with like a nude or peanut butter color shoe or boot is so New York and very classy, like in the second pic, but the first pic is definitely a NO!
