Just a heads up to all my fellow Pedicure Princess’ out there, Island Girl nail polish is quite possibly the worst nail polish everrrr. I normally don’t bother writing bad reviews, but after 4 polish removals and repaints, I crown this worst nail polish ever! They are starting to carry Island Girl in some nail salons here in Las Vegas and I have seen it in San Diego as well so BEWARE! It flakes off in huge chunks and chips just putting on a shoe. Sucks because the colors are super bright and sooo cute, but it’s proven to be far too high maintenance and a total waste of a pedicure.

Hey, where have you seen Island Girl polishes in San Diego? I’m sorry you had bad luck with them, but I’d love to see them in person.

noo nooo island girl have awesome colors. you just have to know how to polish it properly… ive had it on my toes for like 2 weeks and they were fine.. and i had it in a impossible color.. the waikiki dream (purple color)

well it chips easily but it dries soooooper fast and is sooo pretty so its good for five minute nails with bright colors

Was looking for results on “What makes nail polish chip” and “Island Girl Nailpolish” and came across your page!
You are SO right on this! I’m p’oed! I am leaving for a Caribbean destination…thought to get a beautiful BRIGHT colour so chose the (I think it’s called) Fantasy Island Orange…which goes so well against my skin (I’m a black girl! lol) and got it on all fingers and toes yesterday. Had a shower before church this morning…and while in church…noticed my fingers are already CHIPPED! JEEEEZ! So disappointed!
Anyways…gonna find something from the tried, tested and true brand “OPI” or “Essie”. Just hoping I can find something just as BRIGHT!

I totally agree, this is the worst crap ever. I bought some of the color changing polish in Las Vegas and as soon as I put it on it is flaking off and looking like absolute crap. It is too bad because the stuff is really cute (and a cool idea with the color changing and all).

While in Vegas on vacation three weeks ago, my paid manicure and pedicure chipped. So I went out and bought Island Girl (Aloha Coast -1159 florecent pink), (Island Color -1141 glitter) and a clear top coat in a Vegas convenient store. My Island girl colors still have not chipped.

It’s been more than a week that I’m wearing it on my toes and it’s fine. I just came back from a vacation from Mexico and it still looks nice! Having a good top coat (OPI) helps a lot!

I got my nailpoish (5 pack of colors) while in vegas – and I have acryllic nails on. Have had my nails painted 3 times with the colors and haven’t had an issue at all. It is wonderful and so bright and colorful. But…I did have my nail technician paint my girls fingers and toes and it did chip within a day. So maybe regular nails no… acrylics…heck yes

I bought an Island Girl purple glitter polish & it peels off before my day is over! BUT my nails sometimes get yellow and I found the perfect polish from Island Girl that absolutely gets rid of the yellow and I LOVE IT! I have a very good top coat so not sure what needs to be under the purple glitter to keep it from coming off. It is like it doesn’t want to adhere to the nail.

I would agree to disagree, I think they are pretty good for a cheap polish, if you do a topcoat then it does well. And you can make some exotic colours with them if you mix some of the pinks and peachies together, and the purples… and the turquoise! Oh god I just love colours..
I love them, and for the money they are TOTALLY worth it.

Island Girl is DEFINITELY the worst nail polish on the planet. The colours are very attractive, but it is not worth it. Even after SEVEN coats on top of a high-end matte base coat (Deborah Lippman), it is still streaky and of course will peel off almost immediately since it is now so thick on my nails. At $2.99, it is a complete rip-off, since so many coats are needed, and it needs to be re-done so frequently. Why pay such a cheap price for garbage, instead of paying a few extra dollars for good quality nail polish which will last longer and essentially end up saving you money. Spread the word about this terrible nail polish, it is a complete rip-off!
