I can’t even begin to tell you how many people ask me what they should get the person they’re dating for a special occasion. So many questions and headaches go into this, I figured I would try to make it a bit easier by telling you the price ranges most people think you should spend when shopping for the person you are dating. Please don’t email me saying I am materialistic bla bla, this is ONLY for people who are planning on getting someone something and need help. If you want to make your boyfriend a noodle necklace feel free, I am all for crafts

Ok so lets break it down:

1.How long have you’ve been dating?

If you just met them and have only had a couple of dates, then the gift shouldn’t be much. On the other hand, if the relationship has lasted a year or more then the gift should be larger and have enough thought put into it.

2. Is there a future?

Do you see this person being in your life for a while? Or, is the relationship on the rocks? Tough subject, but why invest tons in someone you know isn’t working out. The last thing you want to do is try and be sweet by getting her a giant new Louis, all to be dumped next week. Also, you don’t want to be getting her a gift that might lead her on. If you are about to break up, that Tiffany’s necklace probably is the wrong gift to give.

Now that we have covered the 2 main branches lets break it down further.

Length you’ve been dating:

1-5 months & you’re not that sure if you like her- Keep it simple. Concert tickets, MAC make up gift card. Nice dinner plans. Spa treatments. Pilate lessons. Something nice under $100.00 that you would buy your sister. Don’t send the wrong message. If you two are moving slow, just get her something that will make her happy! NO need to get her something more.

1-5 months & you’re realllll into her- Again I think it’s too soon to get something HUGE and crazy unless your budget is large to begin with. Get her something with more thought involved. Framed pictures, a nice card expressing your happiness, something she has talked about wanting or a place she wants to go. Disneyland, snowboarding, plan a mini trip somewhere. If you are into someone, you should make a conscious effort to plan something nice for them. If you are super into her and see a future in this time frame I would say $150-$300 would be appropriate.

If you are on a budget, plan a picnic, create something for her, a song, a poem, something creative. Make her favorite dinner, rent her favorite movie and get all her favorite snacks. I’d be more than happy with anything that someone put effort into even if it cost $20 bucks.

5-12 months- but you’re not seeing a future?

5-12 months or more- Full time bf/gf? And see a future? $200-500

I hope you take some serious time to plan something nice… A real vacation, something she has been asking for, a puppy, dance lessons, a jewelry item she needs or wants (watch, ring, necklace). A spa day, couples massages (gfs want to go with you), dinner date in a near by city, Newport Beach, get a hotel room after, some sort of getaway is still fun even if it’s close. Make her a basket with all her favorite things. Magazines, candles, underwear, make up, perfume, get creative Whatever you get her make sure you spend at least a few days planning it, and make sure to include something that expresses your feelings for her, girls want that MOST! NO half ass!

* Nice dress and heels from Bebe. Ask the girls who work there what is hot, they will help you. All you need is her sizes.

* An entire day at the spa, massage, facials, manicure/pedicure

* Perfume. Juicy Couture & Marc Jacobs are a few of my favorites

* Concert tickets to my favorite entertainer

* Tiffany’s jewelry or something else you pick out

* New pink digital camera

* Flip video camera

* Louis Vuitton purse or wallet

* Pomeranian puppy ahhh so cute

* Juicy Couture jewelry or watch

* IPhone if she’s been wanting one

* MAC make up giftcard- ships for free right to your door

* New pair of hotttt boots

* Steal her car for the day and tint her windows if she needs it?

* Victoria’s secret stuff. I love the PINK brand they carry, I want it all!

* New girly Luggage, I love polka dots!

* Tickets to the Chargers game, Disneyland, Snowboarding…

* Home cooked entire meal, champagne, dessert, yum

* Cute new colored Nano’s purple, pink, yellow, all SO cute! And 8 hours of video! Love it.
