So I am always down for trying new beauty things riiiiight… Well, this one might just take the cake… I basically got a fat butt reducing massage. In professional spa terms, it is called a Synergie Lymphatic Massage and it is supposed to literally reduce the size of your fat cells. Perfect. What inspired this quest was of course the Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode where Kim gets her butt treated. Although the process is slightly different, it has the same goal in mind… to firm and tone!

Ideally for this service to work its full, magical potential, one should get anywhere from 6-16 treatments. Two treatments a week which last about 40 minutes. A 1998 study conducted by two noted plastic surgeons confirmed that 91% of women that took part in this treatment noticed significant results.

So I bet you are wondering, what’s the process like?

Well, the actual process is pretty wild… The only place in San Diego to offer this treatment is my friend Tracy’s spa, The Sanctuary in Ocean Beach. Here are a few pictures of the spa. Such a cute little place. She has a full service spa including sunless airbrush tanning and even make up application.

Upon arrival to The Sanctuary Spa, the technician gave me a fancy white spandex leotard to slip into for the process. Each person must wear one of their body suits, it keeps everything sucked in and smooth. Please ignore my no make up face and focus on my lovely white suit and Jovan Jane headband ;)

Once you squuuueeeezzze into the suit you lay down onto the table and begin the process. The machine itself looks like a giant vacuum. They start with your legs and work their way up to your butt. The thinner the area (calfs, arms, stomach it hurts a bit but in a good way haah) My butt, well… I felt nothing :(

This is NOT me OR the technician ahahah

It basically feels how you would think it feels. The technician moves the machine up and down and in different motions to circulate the cells. It feels almost as if your skin is being lifted up and then put back down. Overall it wasn’t too painful and at times relaxing. Since I only did one treatment, I did not notice HUGE results, but I did feel my skin was a bit firmer.

After the massage you are supposed to drink tons of water because it also acts as a detox. You should drink about 2-3 liters a day. Adequate water intake is critical to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Please do not confuse this post as me saying this is the way to get skinny. Proper diet and exercise is of course number one.

Overall I would recommend this service to:

1. Woman of any age that could afford to combine with their current fitness regime.

2. Older woman who may not have time to workout who want to firm up a bit.

3. People with specific problem areas. Arms, after pregnancies, legs etc…
