So… I debated on whether or not I wanted to tell the world I had H1N1 considering it sounds soooo gross, but I decided I wanted to because until recently, I did not think it existed. I know what you’re thinking… H1N1? Ya um, you mean Swine Flu? Yep. I had swine flu, the REALLLLL Swine Flu.
I am mostly posting to let you in on the TRUTH behind having it, and to maybe prevent any future occurrences. More and more people are getting it today and are dying from it if it isn’t caught in time. I unfortunately came into daily contact with someone who had it, watched them get better, and thought I had avoided getting it, yeah not so much…so, here’s the scoop on:
The precautions, the symptoms, the treatment, the recovery…
So last Tuesday night I was having dinner at Nobu sushi Downtown and began having flu like symptoms. Nothing crazy but it definitely was a different feeling than my normal sicknesses. I had pretty bad body aches, my lower back, shoulders, head etc were aching pretty bad… I kept thinking, I am totally getting swine, I am totallllllly getttinggggg swine. It was almost like I knew.
Sure enough I woke up on Wednesday DYING. Literally deathly ill. Not exaggerating, I was bed ridden. I woke up sweaty and in pain and didn’t leave my bed until last night, almost FIVE days later. I called the doctor immediately and without even seeing me, he told me that I most likely had it. At this point they are only testing people who have to be hospitalized because of it, otherwise they are tossing out Tamiflu like it’s aspirin. My sister went and picked it up for me and I started the meds asap. The doctors say that in order to prevent a serious case, you must take Tamiflu within 24-48 hours of symptoms.
This was by far the sickest I have ever been, I really couldn’t do anything. I didn’t even update my site for the entire week because I physically couldn’t get out of bed. By noon on Wednesday I had developed:
A severe cough, my entire body was covered in aches and pains, my head was constantly pounding, I had a high fever, freezing chills followed immediately by sweating, extreme nausea, and a total loss of strength.
Long story short, it was every bad symptom you could imagine for 5 solid days. I also wanted to share tips with everyone to hopefully make it through flu season this year, swine free!
* Wash your hands EVERY second. Honestly, overly wash them. I don’t wash my hands enough throughout the day. Start!
* Take echinacea now. Build your immune system up!
* RUN fast if someone you know has it, it is so easy to spread!
* Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes, this is how virus’ spread and enter the body.
If you DO get sick: Make sure you’re:
* Calling the doctor the SECOND you feel sick, tell him how you feel, get his feedback. Get meds!
* Drinking ENDLESS fluids. It is a virus, you must FLUSH out! Water, or Gatorade, drink drink drink!
* Stay inside. As hard as it was to miss work, and be in “home jail”, you have to stay away from people, it is highly contagious! They wouldn’t even let me go to the doctors to get my meds. Stay HOME.
* Take Tamiflu asap, within 24 hours.
After you are on Tamiflu for 4-5 days you are no longer contagious. Although I am not contagious, I still am going to stay home one more day to rest. All you can do is drink water, sleep, and rest. The virus lasts about a week. Once you’re feeling a bit better:
* Lysol all the germs out, wash your sheets, clean everythinggggg to prevent it coming back. H1N1 comes back easily! Beware!
Overall swine flu to me just =’d an actual flu. The media really worked this one up to scare the world. As miserable as it was, if you have had a bad flu before, you would feel the same with this. I am glad I am almost better!

Freaking out about H1N1 Swine Flu? $7 BILLION dollars will be earned by the drug companies for the vaccine. Vaccines are not the sole solution to preventing disease – it’s time to start taking care of your HEALTH and your loved one’s health. Don’t listen to all the media hype perpetuating FEAR. After reading the facts, make your own decision -> http://bit.ly/2lYkfv
