So, I am not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical of my beautiful brows being handled by a total stranger but after seeing my sister’s chicken mcnugget eyebrows transformed into nice girly eyebrows, I was pretty confident I could trust her eyebrow girl. Turns out she is an eyebrow guru! She has been threading eyebrows for over 5 years and even learned from the same girl that threads CHER’s brows. Ok, even more relaxed knowing she had extensive brow training ;) Anyway I’ll cut to the chase…my eyebrow threading experience…

So since I have been doing my own eyebrows forever, and seeing how good my sister’s looked, I decided to hit up Heidi @ Urban Calm Spa Downtown San Diego. It is a cute little place on E Street that offers a full Day Spa menu… massages, facials and of course eyebrow threading. I have heard of it before but I was eager to learn exactly what it was all about.

Here is a shot of my BEFORE brows, not too shabby but I like to think of it as… the best just got BETTER! Click to read more about my eye brow threading adventure! Fabulous for both men & women :)

Heidi has me lay down as if I was getting a massage on a big comfy table. She then cleans off all my make up to prevent any infections (I spent 30 minutes putting it all on only to be wiped away minutes later, so DEF no make up when you go…) She then inspects your brows like its her job, oh wait… it is. She examined my brows and compared them and then offered her suggestion before beginning. She thought I could grow mine out a bit more in the uni-brow area haha so I am unfortunately going to have to do that. Nothing is worse than the growing out your brows phase…

She agrees my eye brows are in pretty good shape ;) but she could definitely tidy them up. Perfect. She then puts this white powder all over my eyebrows which absorbs all the oil in my face and also provides as a sort of template for her shaping since the dust shows every little baby hair possible. Then she busts out what looks to be a giant sewing thread formed around both hands in a figure 8. And off she went… not gonna lie, it was intense! I am a baby so nothing too bad but definitely felt like 2,302 hairs were being taken out, well… because they were. But I liked it that way, I knew my make up would lay so much better :)

Overall a great learning experience. I know so many girls with tiny ugly eyebrows, if you are one of them YOU GOTTA go to Heidi! She truly is amazing at what she does and will follow any and all suggestions you might have. Nothing makes your face look cleaner and put together like a nice set of brows :) Call to make an appointment, only $20 bucks. Oh AND it is SO much better for your skin than waxing for the obvious reasons… less ripping of the skin, lasts wayyy longer, gets a much cleaner shape AND hello… won’t ruin your spray tan or irritate your Retin A wahoo!
