So working at a Law Firm you always get those people harassing you trying to sell you copy machines, advertising, other doctors trying to team up with your attorney to “send referrals to each other” etc. None of it works, I have zero tolerance for these harassers. They have so many methods of trying to win you over and honestly none work. The more they bug me the more I want to say NOOOOO. If you are in sales, then I am sure you hateeee people like me. There is only one way to win me over and its to cut to the chase. Stop asking how my weekend went, I know you don’t care.

The one and ONLY way to sell me anything is to get straight to the point. Hi my name is Jason, I work for Konica Minolta and I am wondering what copier you use now so I could provide you with a quote on how I can save you money. I will give them the info they need and then its up to them to prove to us why we should switch. The best way to do this is in a presentation. Make a graph, compare actual numbers etc.

Don’t bring me cookies I don’t want them. I mean I do, but nooo I don’t

Don’t call me and ask how the wedding went I mentioned last time we talked, I am not impressed, and I am sure you wrote it in your notes anyway

Don’t tell me we’d be saving money when  you removed half of our advertising space, of course we’d be saving money, we’d have one less ad!

Don’t try and trick me. Not only will I not fall for it, but my boss is even worse. He will laugh and you will have wasted 2 hours of your life preparing a ridiculous deal

Don’t keep calling me! If I don’t like your quote or product move on

DO research if you could actually save a company money

DO present clearly exactly why and how you could save us money by NOT taking any services away that we already have

DO follow up ONCE in case I forgot but only ONCE!

The follow up could mean going to the office a week later just to say hi, I am Jason, I faxed you the bid last week, I just wanted to say hi and make sure you didn’t have any questions, but I know you’re busy so here is my card, call me BYE

That would be the only hope anyone ever had at selling me anything
